BRANDY MOORE & THE NIGHTCAPS is a newly formed R&B/Soul/Funk/Motown dance band based in Victoria BC. Featuring dynamite lead vocalist Brandy Moore, singer and guitarist extraordinaire Victor Wells, and a top-notch rhythm section, the band's high-energy eclectic repertoire in the classic R+B vein treats Island audiences to a welcome infusion of rhythm and soul. Brandy Moore is a singer/songwriter and song interpreter with over 25 years of performing experience. She’s appeared in western Canada, the south-western United States, New York, Mexico, Central America, and Portugal, where she recently performed her original song “Just Because I’m Alive” at the 2017 World Basic Income congress in Lisbon. In addition to fronting “Brandy Moore & the Nightcaps” she also regularly performs as a solo act at house concerts and other private functions. Brandy moved back to BC last fall and is now based in Victoria.
BRANDY MOORE (lead vocals)
Brandy Moore is a singer/songwriter and song interpreter with over 25 years of performing experience. She’s appeared in western Canada, the south-western United States, New York City, Mexico, Central America and Lisbon, Portugal where she recently performed her original song “Just Because I’m Alive” at the 2017 World Basic Income congress. Originally from the Okanagan Valley, Brandy moved out to the west coast at age 17, studied music at Capilano College, and spent the next decade performing around Greater Vancouver before releasing her first self-titled independent CD in 1999. She re-located to Regina, Saskatchewan in 2001 and went on to release an additional four independent CDs. Her latest “Real Good Love” was recorded in Nashville in 2011 with several seasoned musicians including Bonnie Raitt’s long-time touring guitarist George Marinelli. In addition to fronting “Brandy Moore & the Nightcaps” she also regularly performs as a solo act (vocals & guitar) for house concerts and other private functions. Brandy moved back to BC last fall and is now based in Victoria.
VICTOR WELLS (guitar/vocals)
Victor Wells is a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter with a 30 year performing career playing blues, funk, R & B, reggae and classic rock in outdoor music festivals, rock and blues clubs, pubs and private/corporate events. His vast experience includes everything from solo performances to an 8-piece soul revue, and every kind of band in between. His career has taken him around the world beginning in Chicago, then Toronto, London, Paris, Tokyo and Vancouver. He now resides in Victoria. As a songwriter, Victor has produced two original CDs, Victor H. Wells, III (1999) and The Dubious Bros. (2004), three CDs as a guitarist, back-up vocalist and co-writer with Chris Gilburg, and numerous LPs and CDs as a session player and singer in Vancouver, Victoria and Tokyo. Victor has written or co-written about 300 songs.
PETER JONES (keys/vocals)
Peter Jones is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer. Classically trained, he has performed with artists such as Michael Bublé, The Paperboys, the Victoria Symphony, and the Canadian Tenors. He is also a practicing lawyer, specializing in Aboriginal Law.
PETE DOWSE (bass)
Pete Dowse is a bassist in high demand. Originally from Montreal, he’s also spent time in New York and San Francisco performing and recording with a wide range of artists in the salsa, disco, rock and blues genres including Geraldine Hunt, Freddie James and Jim Zeller. He’s been playing on and off with fellow band-mates Jon Miller and Peter Jones in various projects around Victoria over the years, and appears regularly at Hermann's Jazz Club with many celebrated musicians, including Pablo Cardenas and Brooke Maxwell.
JON MILLER (drums)
Jon Miller is a drummer and band leader based in Victoria, BC. Before re-locating to the West Coast he lived in Montreal, Philadelphia, Amsterdam and Paris. He earned a B. Mus in Jazz Performance from McGill University (with distinction) and has played with groups varying in styles from Jazz to Hip Hop, Rock, Blues and R&B, in locations ranging from the Eiffel Tower and the China Club (Paris), private parties at the home of Xaviera Hollander (Amsterdam), the Monte Carlo Sporting Club (Monaco), and CBGB's Gallery in NYC. Jon was a featured artist in the 2011 Victoria Drum Fest and has recorded two critically acclaimed CDs of original jazz with his group The Jon Miller Quartet (2009 and 2015).
